Why I picked this watch: I picked this watch because it represents a golden era of Japanese horology, housing the high-beat Calibre 11A movement within a stunningly preserved 1970s silhouette. Its minimalist dial and manual-wind soul offer a tactile connection to the past that modern quartz simply can’t match. This Seiko isn’t just a timepiece; it’s a sustainable investment for the discerning woman who values heritage and mid-century precision.
SEIKO ladies vintage watch, reference 11-3310, with in-house 11A movement, Japan made in 1970 (according to its serial number), case of 15.5 x 20.5 mm, hand-wound (mechanical, no battery!), working fine and serviced.
Seiko, a powerhouse in Japanese watchmaking, began its journey in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop in Tokyo, officially adopting the “Seiko” brand name for its watches in 1924.
Seiko showcased its technical prowess in the 1960s with the Caliber 11A. This high-jewel (21 rubies) manual-wind movement was the heart of the Queen Seiko line, the feminine counterpart to the legendary King Seiko and Grand Seiko. Designed as a time-only movement without a seconds hand, the 11A emphasized elegant slimness and mechanical excellence. Today, collectors seek out the 11A as a prime example of Seiko’s “golden era”, where even their smallest movements were engineered to the highest standards of the Japanese “chronometer” philosophy.
This timepiece features a stainless steel case with two set stones, with white gold plated bracelet and silver safety chain – please check the photos. It will fit wrists of up to 15.5 cm. Water resistance has not been tested, therefore it must be treated as NON-waterproof.
As with any other vintage mechanical watch, exact accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on many factors, including your kind of use. It has been regulated in different positions to minimize the average time gain/loss. The watch has been serviced recently.
