Why I picked this watch:Â I picked this Seiko because its sleek rectangular case offers a refined silhouette that is hard to find in modern ladies’ timepieces. The deep navy blue dial is the true star here, providing a sophisticated pop of color that shifts beautifully under different lights. Beyond its looks, the serviced 17-jewel manual movement ensures this 1977 Seiko isn’t just a vintage statement piece, but a reliable daily companion.
SEIKO ladies vintage watch, reference 11-4120, with in-house 11A movement, Japan made in 1977 (according to its serial number), case of 19 x 27.5 mm, hand-wound (mechanical, no battery!), working fine and serviced.
Seiko, a powerhouse in Japanese watchmaking, began its journey in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop in Tokyo, officially adopting the “Seiko” brand name for its watches in 1924.
Seiko showcased its technical prowess in the 1960s with the Caliber 11A. This high-jewel (21 rubies) manual-wind movement was the heart of the Queen Seiko line, the feminine counterpart to the legendary King Seiko and Grand Seiko. Designed as a time-only movement without a seconds hand, the 11A emphasized elegant slimness and mechanical excellence. Today, collectors seek out the 11A as a prime example of Seiko’s “golden era”, where even their smallest movements were engineered to the highest standards of the Japanese “chronometer” philosophy.
White glod-plated case and bracelet, with stainless steel caseback – please check the photos. Dark blue dial in a great condition. The watch will fit wrists of up to 16.5 cm. Water resistance has not been tested, therefore it must be treated as NON-waterproof.
As with any other vintage mechanical watch, exact accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on many factors, including your kind of use. It has been regulated in different positions to minimize the average time gain/loss. The watch has been serviced recently.
