Why I picked this watch: I selected this 1959 Omega because it is a masterpiece of micro-engineering. It features the in-house Calibre 483, a movement remarkably small yet built with the same precision and durability as Omega’s full-sized legendary calibres. The aesthetic appeal is equally unique: its stainless steel bracelet with turquoise inserts gives it a jewelry-like character that is rare to find in such original condition. With its original signed crown and glass, and having been fully serviced, this watch is a perfect blend of high-end horology and mid-century elegance, ready to be worn as a sophisticated statement piece.
OMEGA vintage ladies watch, Swiss Made with in-house 483 movement, 16.5 mm across excluding the crown, hand-wound (mechanical, no battery!), working fine and serviced. Its serial number dates it to 1959. Ref. 2948 11.
Omega, the legendary Swiss watchmaker, was founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The company truly took its iconic name in 1903, inspired by their revolutionary 1894 “Omega” calibre, a movement renowned for its precision and ease of repair. Throughout the 20th century, Omega became synonymous with groundbreaking achievements, including being the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932 and the producer of the iconic Seamaster collection.
This piece features a stainless steel case, stainless steel bracelet with turquoise inserts, and original Omega-signed crown and glass – please check the detailed pictures. The bracelet will fit wrists up to 17 cm. Water resistance has not been tested, therefore it must be treated as NON-waterproof.
As with any other vintage mechanical watch, exact accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on many factors, including your kind of use. It has been regulated in different positions to minimize the average time gain/loss. The watch has been recently serviced.
