TISSOT bumper automatic vintage watch, 1953, cal. 28,5-21T, working and serviced

TISSOT bumper automatic vintage watch, Swiss Made with in-house 28,5-21T movement, case of 34 mm excluding the crown, automatic (self-winding with the user’s movements) and hand-wound (mechanical, no battery!), working fine and serviced. Its serial number dates it to 1953.

Tissot, a renowned Swiss watchmaker, was founded in 1853 in Le Locle, Switzerland. From its inception, Tissot aimed to produce high-quality watches for a global market, gaining early recognition for precision and innovation.
Tissot played a significant role in the development and popularization of automatic movements, particularly with their early “bumper” automatics. Unlike later full-rotor automatics, “bumper” movements featured a rotor that would swing back and forth, hitting springs (or “bumpers”) on either side to wind the mainspring. This characteristic motion often gave a subtle “thump” sensation on the wrist.
Vintage Tissot watches featuring these “bumper” movements are highly sought after by collectors for their historical significance, unique mechanical charm, and the enduring quality of their Swiss engineering.

This piece has a gold-plated case and a black texturized dial. The features a new Hirsch black leather strap. It will fit wrists of up to 20.5 cm. Lug width is 17 mm. Water resistance has not been tested, therefore it must be treated as NON-waterproof.
The watch will be delivered in a new padded box as seen in the photos, for a better protection during transportation and for a smart and safe storing once you receive it.

As with any other vintage mechanical watch, exact accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on many factors, including your kind of use. It has been regulated in different positions to minimize the average time gain/loss. The watch has been serviced in August 2025.
