Why I picked this watch: I selected this 1963 Omega because it is powered by the legendary Calibre 269, a direct descendant of the iconic 30mm family that cemented Omega’s reputation for chronometric excellence. This movement is a favorite among watchmakers for its robust architecture and oversized balance wheel, offering a level of reliability that is rare even in modern watches. Beyond the mechanics, the Ref. 121.001-63 is a masterclass in 1960s minimalism. I chose this specific piece for its balanced 33.5mm proportions and its beautifully clean dial, which exudes a ‘Mad Men’ era sophistication. It’s the quintessential vintage Omega: a historically significant engine wrapped in a timeless, understated design.

Omega, the legendary Swiss watchmaker, was founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The company truly took its iconic name in 1903, inspired by their revolutionary 1894 “Omega” calibre, a movement renowned for its precision and ease of repair. Throughout the 20th century, Omega became synonymous with groundbreaking achievements, including being the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932 and the producer of the iconic Seamaster collection.
The stainless steel case and the dial have some dots and scratches – please check the pictures. The watch also features a NOS black lizzard strap. It will fit wrists of up to 20 cm. Lug width is 18 mm. Water resistance has not been tested, therefore it must be treated as NON-waterproof.
The watch will be delivered in its original Omega box as seen in the pictures.
As with any other vintage mechanical watch, exact accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on many factors, including your kind of use. It has been regulated in different positions to minimize the average time gain/loss. The watch has been recently serviced.
