CITIZEN Bullhead vintage automatic chronograph, 1973, ref. 67-9011, working and serviced

CITIZEN Bullhead vintage automatic chronograph, reference 67-9011, case number 4-901053 Y, with in-house 8110A movement with EN-ES day and date feature, Japan made in 1973 (according to its serial number). Winding is both manual and automatic (self-winding with the user movements), mechanical, no battery! It is working fine and serviced. All chrono functions work properly.

Citizen Watch Company, a titan of Japanese watchmaking, traces its origins back to the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, founded in 1918. Citizen is particularly renowned for its 8110 automatic chronograph movement, introduced in 1972. This innovative, compact movement featured a flyback function and was a testament to Citizen’s engineering prowess. The Citizen Bullhead, often called the “Challenge Timer,” is a highly distinctive chronograph known for its unique “bullhead” design. This name comes from the placement of its chronograph pushers and crown at the top of the case (12 o’clock position), resembling a bull’s horns. This unusual layout was designed for easier operation and better dial visibility on the wrist. Vintage Citizen Bullhead watches are highly sought after by collectors for their historical significance, advanced features, and robust build quality, standing as prime examples of Japanese watchmaking innovation.

The case is stainless steel, with some wear as can be seen in the photos. The black bezel also has some wear and scratches. Original Citizen-signed crown. The watch also features an aftermarket stainless steel strap. It will fit wrists of up to 20 cm. Water resistance has not been tested, therefore it must be treated as NON-waterproof.
The watch will be delivered in a new padded box as seen in the photos, for a better protection during transportation and for a smart and safe storing once you receive it.

As with any other vintage mechanical watch, exact accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on many factors, including your kind of use. It has been regulated in different positions to minimize the average time gain/loss. The watch has been serviced in August 2025.
