Why I picked this watch: What makes this 1970 Eterna-Matic stand out is its absolute originality. It is a true time capsule that has preserved not only its signed stainless steel bracelet but also its original glass—delicately engraved with the Eterna logo—and even its vintage dark green presentation box. For any serious collector, finding such a complete and authentic set is a rare opportunity. 

Eterna-Matic 1000 Concept 80 automatic vintage watch, Swiss Made in 1970 (according to its serial number) with in-house 1488K movement with date indication, case of 36 mm excluding the crown, automatic (self-winding with the user’s movements) and hand-wound (mechanical, no battery!), working fine and serviced.

Eterna, a distinguished Swiss watch brand, was founded in 1856 in Grenchen. The brand is renowned for its significant innovations in watchmaking, most notably the 1948 invention of the Eterna-Matic, a self-winding movement featuring a rotor mounted on ball bearings—a design that became an industry standard. Vintage Eterna watches are highly sought after by collectors for their robust build quality and classic aesthetic.

This all-original watch has a stainless steel case (with some scratches and dents as can be seen in the pictures), its signed stainless steel bracelet (for wrists of up to 20 cm) and even its original glass, engraved with the Eterna logo. Water resistance has not been tested, therefore it must be treated as NON-waterproof. The date can be quickset by repeated pulling of the crown. The watch will be delivered in its original dark green Eterna presentation box.

As with any other vintage mechanical watch, exact accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on many factors, including your kind of use. It has been regulated in different positions to minimize the average time gain/loss. The watch has been recently serviced.
