Description

Why I picked this watch: I picked this watch because it represents everything collectors love about early post-war Omega craftsmanship: timeless elegance, mechanical reliability, and genuine historical character. Its 14K gold case gives it a warm, refined presence on the wrist, while the in-house Omega movement reflects the precision and quality that helped establish the brand’s legendary reputation.

14k gold OMEGA vintage watch, Swiss Made with in-house 28 movement, 33 mm across excluding the crown, hand-wound (mechanical, no battery!), working fine and serviced. Its serial number dates it to 1947. Ref. 2399.

Omega, the legendary Swiss watchmaker, was founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The company truly took its iconic name in 1903, inspired by their revolutionary 1894 “Omega” calibre, a movement renowned for its precision and ease of repair. Throughout the 20th century, Omega became synonymous with groundbreaking achievements, including being the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932 and the producer of the iconic Seamaster collection. Omega caliber 28 is a fine example of the brand’s commitment to precision and reliability during the golden age of Swiss watchmaking. Renowned for its robust construction and smooth performance, it helped establish Omega’s reputation for producing dependable mechanical movements. Today, watches powered by the Calibre 28 are appreciated by collectors for their historical significance, craftsmanship, and enduring charm..
