Why I picked this watch: I selected this 1960 Zenith Pilot because it embodies the legendary aviation heritage of the brand in its most refined form. Powered by the high-grade Calibre 40, this watch is a testament to Zenith’s mid-century obsession with precision. What truly drew me to this piece is its ‘Sector’ style dial layout and its remarkable 35mm oversized presence, which was larger than the standard 33mm of the era. I chose this specific example because it successfully bridges the gap between a robust tool watch and an elegant dress piece. For the collector, owning a ‘Pilot’ from the brand that officially patented the name is a matter of historical pride. It’s a clean and authoritative timepiece that remains as legible and striking today as it was in 1960.

Zenith, a revered Swiss watch manufacturer, was founded in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot in Le Locle, making it one of the oldest continually operating watchmakers. Zenith quickly established a reputation for high precision and innovative movements, accumulating over 2,333 chronometry prizes throughout its long and illustrious history. Vintage Zenith watches are highly sought after by collectors for their historical significance, technical prowess, and timeless design, embodying the brand’s commitment to accuracy and craftsmanship.

This piece has a stainless steel case. The dial has some patina and stains – please check the photos. Original signed crown.
The watch also features a NOS black leather strap. It will fit wrists of up to 20.5 cm. Lug width is 19 mm.
Water resistance has not been tested, therefore it must be treated as NON-waterproof.
The watch will be delivered in a padded box as seen in the photos, for a better protection during transportation and for a smart and safe storing once you receive it.

As with any other vintage mechanical watch, exact accuracy cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on many factors, including your kind of use. It has been regulated in different positions to minimize the average time gain/loss. The watch has been fully serviced recently.
